Sumire Sakuma, born in Japan in 1985, is an interdisciplinary artist, who works mainly with installation, video, photography, and text.

She has been working on a meditative and contemplative understanding of self, nature, space, and perception and how they all interrelate with previously practised Ikebana over the years. It has evolved into working with any type of objects or living things that we can find around us, in any space - inside/outside - private/public - virtual/physical.

Her interest is to meet an existence created by interactions between foreign objects as an organism or society and surroundings, including viewers & participants in the space in broader terms as a response resulting from spontaneous behaviours.

She currently lives and works in Munich, Germany.
