Sumire Sakuma, born in Japan in 1985, is an interdisciplinary artist, who works with various media such as installation, sculpture, performance, videography, etc.
She has been working on a meditative and contemplative understanding of self, material, space, and perception often using everyday object and how they all interrelate previously practised Ikebana over the years.
Her interest is to meet an existence created by interactions between foreign objects as an organism or society and surroundings, including viewers & participants in the space in broader terms as a response resulting from spontaneous behaviours.
She currently lives and works in Munich, Germany.
